Technical Information
To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'Virus_Test' = 'virus3.exe'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows] 'Load' = 'virus2.exe'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows] 'Run' = 'virus1.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\virus.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
- file extensions
blocks execution of the following system utilities:
- Windows Task Manager (Taskmgr)
- Registry Editor (RegEdit)
Modifies settings of Windows Explorer:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'NoFind' = '00000001'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'NoFolderOptions' = '00000001'
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- <SYSTEM32>\virus3.exe
- C:\autorun.inf
- C:\virus.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\virus2.exe
- %TEMP%\virus_book.bmp
- %WINDIR%\virus_book.bmp
- %WINDIR%\virus1.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\virus.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- C:\virus.exe
