Creates the following services:
- [<HKLM>\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Messenger] 'Start' = '00000002'
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
- file extensions
Executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\sc.exe start Messenger
- <SYSTEM32>\rundll32.exe <SYSTEM32>\msgsvck.dll Install
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- <SYSTEM32>\trp.dll
- <SYSTEM32>\vrs.dll
- <SYSTEM32>\msgsvck.dll
- %PROGRAM_FILES%\Internet Explorer\iedwup.dll
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <SYSTEM32>\trp.dll
- <SYSTEM32>\vrs.dll
- <SYSTEM32>\msgsvck.dll
- %PROGRAM_FILES%\Internet Explorer\iedwup.dll
Miscellaneous:
Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: '' WindowName: ''
