To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\Msconfig.exe] 'Debugger' = 'Garan.exe'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] 'Shell' = 'Explorer.exe Garan.exe'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'GadisRantau' = '%PROGRAM_FILES%\MyProg\GadisRantau.exe'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\Regedit.exe] 'Debugger' = 'Garan.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\GadisRantau.exe
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
- file extensions
blocks execution of the following system utilities:
- Registry Editor (RegEdit)
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- %WINDIR%\Garan.exe
- %PROGRAM_FILES%\MyProg\GadisRantau.exe
- <Current directory>\FolderView.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\Autorun.inf
- <Full path to virus>
- %WINDIR%\Garan.exe
