To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'Shell' = '<SYSTEM32>\rlnsio.exe silent'
Infects the following executable system files:
- %WINDIR%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\InstallUtil.exe
- %WINDIR%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\InstallUtil.exe
- %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallKB942288-v3$\spuninst\spuninst.exe
- %WINDIR%\$NtUninstallWIC$\spuninst\spuninst.exe
Substitutes the following executable system files:
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\setup_wm.exe with <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\setup_wm.exe.new
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\setup50.exe with <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\setup50.exe.new
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
blocks execution of the following system utilities:
- Windows Task Manager (Taskmgr)
- Registry Editor (RegEdit)
Creates and executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\rlnsio.exe silent
- %TEMP%\<Virus name>.exe
Modifies settings of Windows Explorer:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'NoFolderOptions' = '00000001'
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- %PROGRAM_FILES%\Windows Media Player\setup_wm.exe.new
- %PROGRAM_FILES%\Outlook Express\setup50.exe.new
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\setup_wm.exe.new
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\setup50.exe.new
- %TEMP%\nsg3.tmp\modern-header.bmp
- %TEMP%\~rlnsio.exe
- %TEMP%\<Virus name>.exe
- %TEMP%\nsq2.tmp
- <SYSTEM32>\rlnsio.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <SYSTEM32>\rlnsio.exe
Deletes the following files:
- %TEMP%\~rlnsio.exe

Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: '#32770' WindowName: ''
- ClassName: 'Shell_TrayWnd' WindowName: ''
