To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'SystemConfigOptions' = '%WINDIR%\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE -debug'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'SystemConfigTool' = '<SYSTEM32>\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE -developerkeys'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE
- <Drive name for removable media>:\AUTORUN.INF
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
Creates and executes the following:
- '<SYSTEM32>\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE' -developerkeys
- '%WINDIR%\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE' -debug
Modifies settings of Windows Explorer:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'Norun' = '00000000'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'NoFolderOptions' = '00000000'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'NoControlPanel' = '00000000'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] 'Nofind' = '00000000'
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- C:\AUTORUN.INF
- C:\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE
- %WINDIR%\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE
- <SYSTEM32>\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\AUTORUN.INF
- <Drive name for removable media>:\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE
- C:\AUTORUN.INF
- C:\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE
Deletes the following files:
- <SYSTEM32>\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE
- %WINDIR%\SYSCONFIGTOOLV1.EXE
