To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'NVIDIA Media Center Library' = '%HOMEPATH%\%USERNAME%1\winlogon.exe'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'NVIDIA Media Center Library' = '%HOMEPATH%\%USERNAME%1\winlogon.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\DrivesGuideInfo.lnk
- <Drive name for removable media>:\DrivesGuideInfo\svchost.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\DrivesGuideInfo\S-1-9-01-3739977401-4444491267-600313374-9146\Desktop.ini
- <Drive name for removable media>:\DrivesGuideInfo\S-1-9-01-3739977401-4444491267-600313374-9146\svchost.exe
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
- file extensions
blocks the following features:
- System Restore (SR)
- User Account Control (UAC)
- Windows Security Center
Creates and executes the following:
- %HOMEPATH%\%USERNAME%1\winlogon.exe
Executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\svchost.exe
Sets a new unauthorized home page for Windows Internet Explorer.
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- %HOMEPATH%\%USERNAME%1\winlogon.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\DrivesGuideInfo\S-1-9-01-3739977401-4444491267-600313374-9146\Desktop.ini
