To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'fool' = '<SYSTEM32>\fool.exe'
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'fool' = '<SYSTEM32>\fool.exe'
Creates or modifies the following files:
- %HOMEPATH%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\fool.exe
- %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\fool.exe
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\System.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\fool.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\AUTORUN.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\System.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\Desktop.ini
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
forces the system hide from view:
- hidden files
- file extensions
Creates and executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\fool.exe
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- <Current directory>\.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\fool.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\AUTORUN.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\System.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\fool.exe
- <SYSTEM32>\fool.exe
- <Drive name for removable media>:\System.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\Desktop.ini
Deletes the following files:
- %TEMP%\~DF9DA0.tmp
- <SYSTEM32>\fool.exe
Miscellaneous:
Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: 'Indicator' WindowName: ''
